What is SculptraⓇ Aesthetic?

 Aesthetic is a revolutionary injectable designed to restore facial volume depleted by age or illness through the use of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA - a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates collagen production). SculptraⓇ Aesthetic’s ability to stimulate collagen production has been making a big impact with people who want to address well-developed creases, lines, and folds.

Another use for SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is the treatment of lipoatrophy (facial fat loss). This is a condition that can greatly affect people living with autoimmune deficiencies such as HIV.

How does SculptraⓇ Aesthetic work?

SculptraⓇ Aesthetic’s PLLA stimulates your body's own collagen which plumps your skin's appearance in a natural and gentle way. Because SculptraⓇ Aesthetic stimulates your body to rebuild its own collagen, it is one of the slower working anti-aging treatments. Results vary but treatments typically take anywhere from 4 to 6 months to achieve full affect.  Because of the subtle and gradual mechanisms of SculptraⓇ Aesthetic, results can last over 2 years.

Where on the body can SculptraⓇ Aesthetic be used?

As with most injectables, SculptraⓇ Aesthetic can be used on the face to clinically treat deep wrinkles such as laugh lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Other benefits of SculptraⓇ Aesthetic include non-surgical lifting and augmentation, cellulite reduction, and reduction of wrinkles on the chest, elbows, and knees. SculptraⓇ Aesthetic can also fill out muscular areas that need greater definition such as thighs, biceps, and pectorals.

NOTE: SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is not recommended for use on the eye area or lips.

What is a SculptraⓇ Aesthetic treatment like?

Because SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is an injection, Dr. Fatakhov will start by prepping the area. Depending on your comfort level he may apply a topical numbing agent before starting the injections - there will be multiple small injections. All normal activities can be resumed immediately following the treatment.

Remember, treatment results are not immediate. After a few weeks you will see the effects and these effects can last up to 2 years.  Clinical studies conducted reported that 80% of patients were still satisfied with their treatment results 25 months after their last injection.

Is SculptraⓇ Aesthetic safe?

SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is safe. Have you ever felt sore after a workout? That soreness is caused by a buildup of lactic acid. SculptraⓇ Aesthetic’s PLLA is a synthetic form of lactic acid - the same that your body naturally produces following exercise. Because of this, the Food and Drug Administration approved SculptraⓇ Aesthetic in 2004.

Though SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is safe, there may be some adverse reactions at the injection site including redness, swelling, pain, and bruising. In some cases, subdermal lumps and discoloration were reported. SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is not recommended for people with any medical conditions that cause irregular scarring.

How many SculptraⓇ Aesthetic treatments will you need?

Because SculptraⓇ Aesthetic is a slower acting treatment, an average of 3 treatments over a few months are generally required. The number of treatments required can vary based on age and integrity of the skin.
