What causes our skin to age?

Aging skin is the combined result of a variety of factors. Some internal factors point to genetics while other external factors point to prolonged sun exposure, smoking, exposure to pollution and lack of sleep.

What do Dermal Fillers do?

Dermal fillers are injections designed to work like hyaluronic acid - a substance that helps to fill in the skin that is naturally found in the body. The primary function of a dermal filler is to add lost volume to different areas of the face such as the cheek area, lips, under eye
area, nasolabial area and the area at the side of the mouth.

Are Dermal Fillers safe?

The dermal fillers that are offered today are very safe. Unlike synthetic/surgical options, most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (the previously mentioned substance that helps to fill in the skin and is naturally found in the body). At the time of injection adverse reactions are possible but not common. It is important to discuss any concerns that you might have with Dr. Fatakhov before any dermal filler injections are administered.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

None of the dermal fillers offered at The Center for Internal and Integrative Medicine have permanent effects. After the injections are made the dermal filler will slowly diminish over time as it is absorbed by the body.

The majority of Restylane® treatments will last between 6 and 9 months - Restylane ® lip treatments usually last between 3 and 4 months and Restylane ® cheek treatments can last up to 1 year.

The majority of Juvéderm ® treatments will last between 6 and 10 months - Juvéderm ® lip treatments usually last between 3 and 5 months and Juvéderm ® cheek treatments can last up to 1 year.
